Zone Zero Regulations Withdrawn from Review

The California Board of Forestry and Fire Protection (BoF) has reportedly withdrawn its proposed Zone Zero regulations this week from the Office of Administrative Law (OAL) Review, which is a legal review required before the rules’ implementation.

The proposed regulations, which would severely restrict the foliage allowed between 0-5 feet of structures in Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones like the Canyon, were originally anticipated to go into effect this month after being approved by the board on Aug. 19.

Canyon News has reached out to both the Board of Forestry and the OAL for further details about the reported review withdrawal, but responses were not immediately available. An update about the issue will be provided once their responses are received.
