County Public Works (24/7 dispatch): 800-675-4357
City services (MyLA311): app, lacity.gov/myla311, or call 311 or 213-473-3231
A hanging wire or a tree touching power lines
Where to start: LADWP at 800-342-5397.
What to do: Stay clear of the wire and report its location. Call 911 as well if there's immediate danger.
Water or mud threatening a home
Where to start: If anyone is in danger, call 911. For a county storm-impact report, call 800-675-4357. For drainage on a city street, use MyLA311.
What to do: Follow evacuation instructions, and don't drive or walk through moving water.
Not sure where to start? For most city-service issues, such as graffiti, streetlights, or a problem on a street, report it through the MyLA311 app. Save the reference number so you can follow up or share it with the council office. Creek-channel issues need a separate county contact, listed under Storm & Flood.
Storm & Flood
Mud, debris, a blocked drain, or flooding on a city street
Where to start: MyLA311, through the app, online, by calling 311, or by calling 213-473-3231.
What to do: Give the exact location and photos, and save the request number for follow-up.
A fallen tree, debris, or an obstruction in a county flood-control channel
Where to start: LA County Public Works 24/7 dispatch at 800-675-4357. The county also lists 888-CLEANLA for dumping and obstructions in drainage channels. For illegal dumping in a channel, call 323-890-4317.
What to do: Identify the nearest address or crossing and describe where the obstruction is. Do not enter the channel.
Sandbags or help planning their placement
Where to start: LAFD Station 23 at 17281 Sunset Boulevard is a listed location for free sand and sandbags. Call the station ahead to check supplies.
What to do: LAFD offers up to 25 ready-to-fill bags per household but doesn't fill, deliver, or install them. For large or specialized jobs, LAFD recommends considering a licensed contractor.
Construction materials or yard debris washing toward a drain or creek
Where to start: If it's already obstructing a county channel, call 800-675-4357. If it's obstructing a city street or public right-of-way, submit a MyLA311 request. For illegal dumping in or near a channel, call 323-890-4317.
What to do: Include photos, the address, and where the material is moving.
Is the ocean safe after rain?
Where to start: Check LA County Public Health's beach advisories or call 800-525-5662.
What to do: Check before going in the water, and stay away from posted closure areas and from water near flowing creeks or storm drains.

A streetlight or tunnel light is out
Where to start: Submit a MyLA311 streetlight-repair request. For a light mounted on a wooden power pole, LADWP asks residents to call 800-342-5397 instead. For tunnel light outages, you can also reach James Masud at 323-913-4727.
What to do: Give the pole's location and describe the problem.

Neighbors & Community Care
Someone experiencing homelessness appears to need help
Where to start: Contact the Pacific Palisades Task Force on Homelessness at info@pptfh.org, or submit an LA-HOP outreach request. For a family with minor children, LA-HOP directs residents to 211. For a medical or mental-health emergency, call 911.
What to do: The task force supports local outreach and the LAPD beach detail, and you can learn about its work and donate at pptfh.org. When you make a request, give the person's location, when they're usually there, and the needs you've seen, without assumptions about them. LA-HOP isn't the channel for reporting an encampment or illegal activity.
