Debris Removal from SM Canyon Channel To Be Completed Monday
The concrete debris removal in Santa Monica Canyon Channel will be finished on Mar. 16, according to Eden Berhan, a senior civil engineer with Los Angeles County Public Works.
The channel’s concrete overlay broke apart during the Feb. 16 storm and caused a large blockage near Channel Lane and smaller pileups in other parts of the channel. Once the rain stopped, Public Works began the debris removal project.
All heavy equipment along East Channel Road is scheduled for removal on Monday, Berhan said.
“We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the community members who supported us throughout this project,” Berhan said in an email. “Your patience, cooperation, and understanding were greatly valued by our entire team.”
If residents notice any problems with the channel, which is overseen by the county, they can contact Public Works 24-hour Dispatch Center at (800) 675-HELP (4357).
