Registration Open for Apr. 18 Nothin’ But Sand Beach Cleanup
In honor of Earth Day, Heal the Bay will conduct an annual beach cleanup on Apr. 18 from 10 a.m. until noon.
Registered volunteers gather at the blue tents and Heal the Bay flag by Santa Monica State Beach Tower 1550 near S.M. Pier. where they check-in and receive cleanup supplies, including buckets and gloves. If possible, volunteers are encouraged to bring their own supplies so that Heal the Bay’s supplies can go further. In addition, people should bring a water bottle, light jacket, and hat.
While the event often reaches capacity, Heal the Bay notes that people who aren’t able to register can still participate by showing up 15 minutes early on the day and bringing their own cleaning supplies.
Beginning at 11:20 a.m., the event will also include talks from marine scientists, environmental policy specialists, and ClimateTech organizations. An expo will have exhibits, promotions, and information about further volunteer opportunities throughout the two hours.
Last year, Heal the Bay’s monthly cleanup events removed 19,500 pounds of debris from L.A. County beaches.
