Fire Safe Palisades Forms to Coordinate Local Fire Protection Efforts
Fire Safe Palisades will be holding a Fire Safety/Home Hardening Community Workshop on Apr. 12 from 2-5 p.m. at Calvary Church (701 Palisades Dr.).
The event will feature vendors and presentations geared to making homes safer in the event of fire. More information is available at firesafepalisades.org or by emailing FireSafePalisades@gmail.com.
Fire Safe Palisades, which The Canyon Alliance supports, is a newly formed umbrella organization to link existing Pacific Palisades FireWise USA associations and like-minded committees within the Palisades, according to the organization.
As a first step, Fire Safe Palisades has begun a perimeter initiative to better coordinate vegetation management along the public-land boundaries adjoining Pacific Palisades, according to an emailed announcement. The goal is to help homeowners implement a practical strategy, including support with permits and qualified contractors, while also advocating for better land-management practices to reduce wildfire risk.
“The organization brings together Firewise communities, local neighborhoods, homeowners associations, and partner organizations to support wildfire preparedness through education, collaboration, home hardening, defensible space, and related risk-reduction efforts,” according to their emailed announcement. “Its website serves as a central resource for local wildfire safety information, practical guidance, and community engagement.”
