Will Rogers State Historic Park (1501 Will Rogers State Park Road) will hold an Earth Day celebration on Saturday, Apr. 25, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
The family-oriented event will celebrate the plant and animal life in the park and feature lawn games, button making, and mechanical horse races for young children. In addition, to honor the Rogers’ family, there will be a return of polo on the big field, history walks discussing Rogers, lasso roping lessons, and opportunities to connect with horses. Two docent-guided Inspiration Loop hikes will also include information about the first plants to return after last year’s fire.
In addition, before the celebration from 9-11 a.m.., volunteers of all ages are asked to help remove invasive weeds from the park. The goal will be to help safeguard biodiversity and enhance the habitat for local wildlife. Attendees should bring garden gloves, hats, sunscreen, snacks, and water. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
