The two wandering beagles found in the Canyon last week have moved to the next stop in their life journeys.
To help them on their way, Canyon resident Ashleigh Arrell, who was fostering the two dogs (nicknamed Betsy and Bertha), coordinated with the Beagle Freedom Project, which works to find homes for beagles and other stray animals.
The organization introduced her to a man whose beagle had died about five weeks earlier. The fellow visited Arrell’s home earlier in the week, met both beagles, and soon took Betsy home.
In the absence of Betsy, Bertha’s personality became even sweeter and more relaxed.
“She softened up and was such a dream,” Arrell said. “I would highly recommend her as a pet.”
The Beagle Freedom Project took over Bertha’s care yesterday afternoon, which included addressing a small wound on her tail that she had been been picking at. Arrell fashioned a temporary foam collar so the spot could heal, and the adornment became her fashion accessory when the organization came by to pick Bertha up for a new foster placement.
