Three Trash Receptacles Disappear

Three trash receptacles in the Boca business area seem to have been removed by L.A. Sanitation.

Last week, The Canyon Alliance Board Member Sharon Kilbride discussed the three overflowing city receptacles at 130 W. Channel Rd., 301 Entrada, and Entrada Ocean Avenue, with a sanitation representative. All three were emptied the following day, and the representative also gave Kilbride instructions on how residents can report full receptacles to the city for collection, which was reported in this Canyon News article.

Unfortunately, today, which is the normal trash pickup day, the sanitation worker removed all three trash cans from the business area.

“Two of them are next to … bus stops … [and] are used by beachgoers and our community on a daily basis so it makes no sense to me why they would’ve removed them,” Kilbride said in an email to Marian Ensley, who is the field deputy for Mayor Karen Bass.

Kilbride also phoned sanitation, and the representative put in a request to return the three receptacles to the Canyon.

“She was baffled about why they removed the receptacles and even spoke to her supervisor so they are finding out why they were taken and she hopes that they’ll be returned in the next two days,” Kilbride said. “I will update as soon as I hear more. What a fiasco.”
