Fire Safety Festival & Free Hardening Home Evaluations

The Fire Safe Council of the Santa Monica Mountains is offering free Home Ignition Zone Evaluations to residents.

Evaluators will visit Santa Monica Mountains homes and provide recommendations for home hardening and defensible space for both structures and gardens. To find out more information or register for an assessment, visit this link.

Wildfire safety will also be the topic at the 2nd Annual Fire Safe Festival in Malibu on May 16 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Malibu Forestry Unit, 942 Las Virgenes Rd.This is a free, family-friendly afternoon of wildfire learning will include the following activities.

• Wildfire Evacuation Board Game (starts 11 am)

• Student Art Contest

• Fire Ecology Nature Walk

• Wildfire Learning Center: Demonstration Home & Garden

• Free Native Plants

• Screen Printing, Acorn Art and more!

• Dav's Smash Burgers (for purchase)
