The Canyon Elementary School construction project has finished the renovation of the Schoolhouse Library, which will be ready for use at the beginning of the school year, according to Maribel Serrano of the LAUSD Facilities Services Division.
This morning, “I walked the site with the project team and personally observed approximately 12–15 workers throughout the site, including several working inside the Classroom Building,” Serrano said in an email to the community. “It was encouraging to see the project progressing nicely.”
In addition, two trailers have been removed, which expanded the playground space and access to the reading garden, and the new Classroom Building “is currently on track for completion and occupancy in the 1st Quarter of 2027,” according to Serrano’s email. “All temporary bungalows, including classrooms and the interim library, are scheduled for removal in Phase 3 of construction, which will take place throughout the 2nd Quarter of 2027."
The construction work hours are regularly scheduled for Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and the project is scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2027, according to Serrano.
