Speed Traps and Stop Sign Tickets in Effect
This morning (June 18), the California Highway Patrol was ticketing both speeding drivers and anyone who didn’t make a full stop at Short St. and Entrada, according to Boca resident Sharon Kilbride.
Because Pacific Coast Highway is still an active construction zone with trucks carting out debris throughout the day, the speed limit is 25 miles per hour in both directions from the Canyon, including the segment traveling towards Interstate 10. Any flashing red lights should be treated as stop signs, while southbound lanes on portions of PCH are reduced to one lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has cleared debris from about 3/4 of properties in Pacific Palisades and Malibu that didn’t use private contractors, equaling more than 3,300 emptied parcels, according to the Corps. Their continued progress can be monitored at this link, and the debris removal is estimated for completion by the end of the summer.
