LADWP Offers Free Water Leak Detectors to Customers Until July 4

To save water and reduce utility bills, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power is providing free Flume Smart Water & Leak Detectors to customers.

The devices (normally $249) are connected to individual water meters and can help uncover hidden leaks, according to LADWP. They will be provided for free until the Fourth of July this year.

According to the promotional website (ladwp.com/Flume), 70 percent of Flume customers find a leak within 30 days of installation. The product includes a WiFi bridge to connect customers to a Flume app on their phone, which will access data from a sensor that is strapped to the water meter.

Customers must initially pay $25 for shipping and tax, which will then be refunded after installation, according to LADWP. Installation is estimated to take about 10 minutes. To place an order, visit this link.
