Department of Public Health Offers Free Blood Lead Testing for Fire-Affected Areas

Free blood lead testing for areas impacted by the Palisades and Altadena fires are available through appointment or at mobile testing sites.

Since fires can release lead through smoke, ash, and debris, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health is offering free blood lead testing for a limited time. Appointments can be scheduled for the free tests at Quest Labs by calling (800) LA-4-LEAD. Lead testing is also covered by most insurance plans, including Medi-Cal, and can be arranged through a doctor.

In addition, occasional mobile testing times have been held in both Malibu and Altadena. The next mobile testing will be June 27 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Altadena Community Center (730 E. Altadena Dr.), and, if new Malibu dates are added, they will be listed on this webpage.
