Palisades Crime Update from LAPD
Recent crimes in Pacific Palisades have mainly involved the theft of tools and equipment from construction crews, according to Los Angeles Police Department Senior Lead Officer Brian Espin’s.
In his weekly email to the community, Espin also addressed social media posts that warned of squatters inhabiting vacant lots without the LAPD stopping them.
“We (LAPD) here in the Palisades have not seen any squatters in the area or on vacant lots,” he said in his email. “As you have heard me say before, we (LAPD) can only address crime when it is reported to us. In the social media post, the incident was not … criminal in nature but a person experiencing homelessness and a possible mental crisis. The person was ultimately placed on a psychiatric hold. Please be very cautious when news and stories are posted on social media platforms. Not all information is vetted.”
Emergencies should be reported by dialing 911. Suspicious behavior can be reported by emailing palisades@lapd.online. Non-emergencies can be reported to 877-ASK-LAPD or at the West L.A. Station (310) 444-0701. Certain crimes, including vandalism, theft, narcotics tips, lost property, and minor traffic collisions, can be reported online at www.lapdonline.org.
