Upcoming Events: Topanga Lagoon Restoration, Gerry Blanck Martial Arts, Pali Rec Center Rebuild Meeting
In the coming week, several events outside the Canyon might be of interest.
On May 31, a public meeting about the Topanga Lagoon Restoration Project will be held both virtually and at Pierce College in Woodland Hills from 1:30-3:30 p.m. to discuss the effort to protect the lagoon. California State Parks, CalTrans, County of Los Angeles Department of Beaches and Harbors, and the Resource Conservation District of the Santa Monica Mountains are working to restore the Topanga Lagoon ecosystem, which is one of the last coastal wetlands in Southern California. The goal is to create an integrated program for coastal access, emergency response and interpretation, and proactively address the effects of sea level rise. More information is available on here.
On Monday, June 1, at 6 p.m., Gerry Blanck’s Martial Arts Center at 542 Palisades Drive will hold a ribbon cutting and grand opening with sentertainment, demonstrations, and refreshments.
A virtual community meeting about the rebuild for the Palisades Recreation Center will be Wednesday, June 3, from 6-7 p.m.. Community members can learn more about the project and review updated recreation facility designs. Join the meeting via this Zoom link.
