A truck smashed into a building on W. Channel Rd. today, which closed both Chautauqua and W. Channel Road at Pacific Coast Highway.

“A construction truck carrying scaffolding was coming down Chautauqua when the driver’s brakes went out,” said Sharon Kilbride, who lives nearby. “The driver swerved into the apartment building on W. Channel and ended up inside one of the units. The L.A. Fire Department had to remove the roof of the building in order to safely get the man out of the truck.”

The driver survived and was taken to the hospital, Kilbride said.

Fire fighters safely remove the injured truck drive from the W. Channel apartment building.
