Free Soil Testing Day Will Be Dec. 6 at Will Rogers’ Polo Field

The Department of Angels, in partnership with USC’s CLEAN team and L.A. County Public Health, have rescheduled their rain-postponed free community soil testing event to Saturday, Dec. 6, from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. at Will Rogers State Historic Park’s polo field (1501 Will Rogers State Park Rd.).

Residents can learn how to collect soil samples and also submit them for free lead testing. In addition, soil and health experts will be available to answer questions, and blood lead levels can be tested by the L.A. County Department of Public Health.

Refreshments, music, and activities for all ages will be provided. Parking is $3 per hour or $12 for the whole day.

How to Participate

Bring a soil sample from your yard to the event after taking the CLEAN intake survey and reading the sampling guide. Or, come to the event to watch a live soil sampling demonstration before collecting your sample. Then, return your soil sample to the event, where it will be sent to the lab for testing. Results will be available digitally within a few weeks.

If you need assistance getting a sample, volunteers will also be available to collect samples for you. If you'd like to volunteer to collect soil samples on behalf of neighbors, make that selection in your registration.
