Replenish & The Canyon Alliance Join Forces to Help Foster Youth Nov. 19

Replenish clothing store in Canyon Square has partnered with The Canyon Alliance and Ready to Succeed for an all—day event Nov. 19 that will benefit college-bound foster youth.

From 10 a.m.,-11:30, people can stop by the Channel Square store (169 W. Channel Rd.) and sample coffee and breakfast catered by RustiCoffee as they peruse Replenish’s collection of shirts, denim, skirts, and accessories from labels such as Agolde, Citizens of Humanity, and Enza Costa.

From 4-7 p.m. valet parking will be available as well as sips, charcuterie, and crudités catered by The Canyon Grocer. Canyon stylist Jill Bronstein will also be on hand to helps customers find classic clothes that work well with their body type and sense of style.

Fifteen percent of the proceeds for the whole day will be donated to Ready to Succeed, an organization founded by Romi Lasally and Patrick McCabe that Alliance board member Marla Mayer said is dedicated to helping foster children reach college, stay in college, and find jobs after graduation.

Ready to Succeed works to combat long odds for foster youth. Only 4% of foster youth will graduate from a four-year college, and they are more likely to face homelessness and incarceration, according to the organization. However, 90 percent of Ready to Succeed’s scholars graduate from college within 4.5 years, and 92 percent secure jobs within six months of graduation. In addition, 95 percent envision bright futures for themselves.

Ready to Succeed “is really incredibly lean and efficient, which I look for in a nonprofit,” said Mayer, who knows the founders and works on the organization’s committees. “They help this very needy group of people, which is foster youth in LA…. They are education focused, and the outcomes are incredible.”
