Community Council Taking Applications for Alternate Area and At-Large Reps

The Pacific Palisades Community Council is looking for residents interested in serving as alternate area or at-large representatives for the 2026-2028 term.

The council has eight area representatives, including Sharon Kilbride who currently represents Rustic and Santa Monica Canyons, plus one at-large representatives. These representatives have been elected by the community, but the alternates apply and are elected by the council board.. Up to two alternate representatives are chosen for each seat. Application statements must be sent by Sept. 19 at 5 p.m. to the email address: info@pacpalicc.org.

The council provides the following information about applying to serve as an alternate:

The alternates as well as the primary representatives serve a two-year term, beginning in October 2026. Alternate representatives are encouraged to attend meetings and to participate in the discussion of issues, but do not vote unless the primary representative is absent.

Applicants for alternate area representative must live within the specified boundaries of the area for which they are applying (detailed at https://pacpalicc.org/index.php/area-maps/). Applicants for alternate at-large representative must either live, own property or operate a business within Pacific Palisades.….

All interested parties must submit a statement of any length indicating which position they are applying for (area or at-large, 1st or 2nd alternate, or both; and … may apply for both area and at-large alternate positions). The statement of each area alternate applicant shall include the number of years residing in Pacific Palisades, the number of years as a resident of the area, the number of years at the current address and that address, and/or the applicant’s intent to return to that address [if they have moved temporarily due to the Palisades Fire] …

The statement of each at-large alternate applicant shall include the number of years either residing in Pacific Palisades or running a business or owning property in Pacific Palisades, the applicant’s current residence, business or property address, and/or the applicant’s intent to return to that address (if applicable).

All applicants’ statements shall include the position on issues the applicant believes are of importance to the community or the applicant’s area. The statement may also include a few biographical facts, including any skills that the applicant would bring to PPCC.

Candidates for the positions will be reviewed and nominated by the PPCC “Three Chairs” Committee (consisting of three former PPCC Chairs/Presidents), and then elected by the board at an upcoming PPCC meeting.
