Oom PaPa Band Needs More Players
The Oom PaPa band marching in a past Pacific Palisades Fourth of July celebration
While the annual Fourth of July parade will return this summer to Pacific Palisades, one of its standard local acts is struggling to find enough members to perform.
The Oom PaPa band, which would celebrate its 52nd year in the parade this summer, needs a few more musicians to join the band by Monday, June 8, in order for them to submit an application for the event. Both children and adults who play marching band instruments are welcome. The playlist will include a few songs, such as “Louie, Louie,” “76 Trombones,” and “California Here I Come.”
Rehearsals are held each Saturday morning in June from 10:30 a.m.-noon with one evening practice on July 3 . On July 4, the parade will start at 4 p.m. instead of the 2 p.m. start time of prior years. More information about participating in the parade is available here.
