Fire Safe Council Will Hold Online Wildfire Preparedness Meeting on Feb. 19

A wildfire preparedness presentation on Thursday will cover home hardening software, mesh safety screen installation reimbursement, and FireDome, a wildfire protection system engineered to create a real-time defensive barrier around structures, according to the organizer.

MySafe: LA, the Regional Fire Safe Council for Los Angeles County, is hosting the event from 7-8:30 p.m. on Feb. 19 at this link. The Wildlife Advisory Board will lead the meeting, and the public can ask questions and comment. The full agenda is at this link.

According to the agenda, wildfire specialist Dante Cornejo will share how a neighborhood can become “wildfire-ready,” while another presentation will discuss free smartphone and tablet software for managing home hardening and National Fire Protection Association Firewise compliance.

In addition, MySafe:LA will share how residents can “earn reimbursement for purchasing and installing 1/8-inch mesh screens in March.” A final presentation will center on the fire-protection system, FireDome.

A meeting next month on March 26 will focus on the Board of Forestry’s proposed Zone 0 regulations on plants within five feet of structures.
