May 19 Online Meetings: Potential Disaster Recovery District & Long-Term Recovery Plan

Two online meetings will be held on May 19 to address both a potential Palisades Disaster Recovery District and a draft Long Term Recovery Plan for Pacific Palisades.

The Draft Long Term Recovery Plan meeting has been organized by Mayor Karen Bass’ office and AECOM, the consulting firm hired by the city to aid fire recovery. From 5-6:30 p.m. on May 19, AECOM will present the current draft of the plan’s proposals as well as its implications for the community’s recovery. To register, visit this link.

Then, a half hour afterwards, at 7 p.m. on May 19, the Pacific Palisades Community Council will hold a special meeting about a potential Palisades Disaster Recovery District (DRD). Council District 11’s Planning Director Craig Bullock and two representatives from the city’s Economic and Workforce Development Department will hold a discussion and Q&A about the possible district.

According to the PPCC, the meeting would address “what exactly is a DRD, how would it be formed and funded, does [the] City Council have to approve it, what would be its authority, would there be community input, do we really need this, are there alternatives, and what would be the impact on our recovery?”

The meeting can be accessed at this Zoom link.
