Plastic Pollution To Be Addressed at Annenberg Beach House Events

-Two events focused on plastic pollution are being held next week at the Annenberg Community Beach House (415 PCH).

On Nov. 7 from 1-4 p.m., a Plastic Pollution Solutions Expo will focus on solving plastic pollution by 2040. Tickets are $20, although students and organization allies pay $10.

The walk-through event will include a range of ideas, such as regenerative materials for textiles/packaging and stainless steel reuse systems for schools, with the goal of stimulating the sharing of knowledge and providing “exposure for upstream solutions,” according to the organizers. More information and a registration form is available here.

The next day, on Nov. 8, a TEDx conference titled TEDxGreatPacificGarbagePatch will be focused on the same topic. The event will last from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. with a 5-7 p.m. reception to follow.

According to the organizer, the conference will be live-streamed and feature speakers, videos, interactive experiences, and musical performances in order to share knowledge and “galvanize collective action to tackle one of humanity's toughest challenges.”

Topics will include microplastics and human health, environmental justice, climate change, culture change, and business innovations, including regenerative materials, product design, reuse solutions, investing, and corporate accountability.

Tickets are $250 and can be purchased at this link.
