Emergency Repairs to Channel Will Begin ASAP & Last 3-4 Weeks, Says Traci Park’s Office
Councilmember Traci Park’s office sent out the following update about the concrete that was washed into the Santa Monica Canyon Channel:
Dear Community Members,
The storm on February 16th caused sections of the sacrificial concrete overlay in the Santa Monica Canyon Channel to delaminate and collect within the channel.
LA County Public Works will begin an emergency cleanup operation as soon as possible to remove this material and restore channel capacity. Please be aware that the dead-end portion of East Channel Road at Amalfi Drive will be temporarily closed to facilitate this work.
In addition to a Gradall, dump trucks will be used to haul the removed material. We expect two to three trucks to be staged in the cul-de-sac for loading at any given time. Personnel, including flaggers, will be onsite to manage traffic.
Councilmember Traci Park has shared this information on social media and will continue to provide updates. This emergency project is expected to take three to four weeks. LA County crews are currently on the ground, have begun door-knocking in the immediate vicinity, and will release flyers shortly.
Please help us share this information with the community.
Thank you,
Arus Grigoryan
Senior Field Deputy Pacific Palisades
