Earth Day & Resilient Palisades Events: Apr. 19, 25, & 26

The Pacific Palisades Earth Day & Veg Fest will occur from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Apr. 19 in the Village Green (15280 Sunset) and will include a nature walk led by Resilient Palisades.

The Sunday event will also offer a native plant sale, goodie bags, healing activities for all ages, and tables featuring organizations, such as Heal the Bay, TreePeople, USGBC-CA, Plant Based Treaty, California Native Plant Society, Palisades Beautiful, and the Palisades Forestry Committee. Registration is available here.

Councilmember Traci Park, the office of U.S. Rep. Brad Sherman, and LADWP representatives will be at the event, and the food vendors will include La Crêpe du Jardin, Tacos Sin Vacas, Soul Feels Good, and Cookies A’More. In addition, there will be Tesla test drives and an electric vehicle showcase.

The Resilient Palisades nature walk will occur in 20-minute sessions that begin at 11:30 a.m. and move from the Village Green to Palisades Elementary for an activity that will focus on invasive plants in Pacific Palisades.

For those who want further information about invasive plants, Resilient Palisades will also hold a volunteer orientation and webinar titled Invasive Plants 101 on Apr. 26 at 1 p.m. The organization’s restoration team will share the basics on invasive plants and how they’re impacting the local landscape. In addition, attendees will learn how to spot common species, understand why they spread so aggressively, and discover how removal work helps native plants return. Register here.

Resilient Palisades is also working to help with the invasive plant removal and restoration of native habitat in Temescal Canyon Park. Large group restoration days will be held in May, and interested volunteers can register here.

Another Earth Day event, which will be conducted by both Councilmember Traci Park’s office and the Village School, is Clean Up Palisades & Celebrate Earth Day on Saturday, Apr. 25 from 9-11 a.m., which will be held at the school (780 N. Swarthmore Ave.). Register at this link
