LADWP Asks Residents to Conserve Water
L.A. Department of Water & Power requests that residents throughout Pacific Palisades conserve water while repairs are in progress on a damaged trunkline on Sunset Blvd between Allenford Ave. and Mandeville Canyon Rd.
To help maintain a stable water supply, LADWP suggests that residents turn off automatic irrigation systems, turn off pool auto-refill features, limit showers to five minutes, and reduce non-essential water use.
The affected pipe is the Westgate Trunkline, which serves the westside portion of LADWP’s water service area, including Pacific Palisades. To ensure public safety around the work area, cyclists, pedestrians, and motorists are urged to avoid the immediate area and use alternate routes. All eastbound lanes and one westbound lane of Sunset Boulevard between Allenford Avenue and Mandeville Canyon Road are closed.
“Water remains safe to drink, however, all Pacific Palisades residents and businesses are urged to conserve water for the next few days, especially during the morning hours of 4 A.M. to 8 A.M. when water use spikes as people get ready for school and work,” according to a LADWP press release. “Conservation efforts on the part of the Pacific Palisades community will help LADWP crews balance the delicate work of maintaining water pressure while also prepping backup water supplies, which includes pressurizing disinfecting pipes and taking water quality samples.”
