Residents Can Again Become Part of the Community Mural on Nov. 14

RustiCoffee workers (left to right, Michael Pradels, owner Tara Amiel, Loulou Martinez, and Madeleine Whalen) squeeze together for a group photo taken by photographer Josh Madson.

Photographer Josh Madson will be returning to Canyon Square (169 W. Channel Rd.) to photograph residents on Nov. 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m..

The pictures will become part of a community mural that will be unveiled on Dec. 12 at Gallery 169, and Madson is working to create similar community murals in a total of 28 communities around Los Angeles in time for the 2028 Olympics.

Last month on Oct. 10, he took around 200 portraits in Canyon Square, and anyone who would like to join next week can email info@redlightpr.com to register. Several participants said they delighted in the experience, which became a fun community gathering.

“The event was fabulous,” said RustiCoffee owner Tara Amiel . “I can’t tell you how great the photographer Josh was…. He was very generous with everyone he photographed. Old, young, dogs, kids…. It was infectious. People wanted to be in on it.”

Two free digital portraits will be emailed to each participant after the 2-3 minute photo session. Participants should arrive 5 minutes before their time slot, which will be allocated in 15-minute increments. Walk-ins are also welcome, although time slots aren’t guaranteed.
