A winter storm is expected to bring light to moderate rain from New Year’s Eve through 10 p.m. on New Year’s Day, according to the National Weather Service.
The latest weather forecast can be found here.
A flood watch is in place from Wednesday evening through Thursday evening, according to L.A. County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath. LA County Public Works has also issued a Phase I mudflow forecast for the Palisades Fire area. For the latest updates on evacuation warnings and alerts, visit lacounty.gov/emergency.
“Law Enforcement personnel in the field are also notifying specific properties about the Evacuation Warnings in recent wildfire burn scare areas effective 12/31/2025 at 11 a.m.” according to the county website. “This is due to weather forecasts and the possibility of mud and debris flows. Law enforcement personnel are making door to door contact to notify those specific properties.”
Horvath also emailed the following information:
“LA County Public Works crews will mobilize storm patrols and monitor vulnerable communities. Catch basins and spreading grounds are operational and prepared to mitigate flood risk, capture, store, and beneficially reuse storm water.”
She also recommended the following resources—1) waterforla.lacounty.gov/flood-preparedness/ to learn about local flood risk, evacuation routes, and safety tips; 2) ready.lacounty.gov for preparedness resources, including planning and emergency alert signup.
