LAPD Reports Low Crime Rate and Two Arrests Over Past Two Weeks

Crime has been relatively low throughout Pacific Palisades over the last two weeks, according to L.A.P.D. Senior Lead Officer Brian Espin.

An apartment was ransacked near Sunset and PCH last Thursday, and some teenagers playing with paintball guns had a dispute with a stranger who they said swung an “unknown metal object” at them on Oct. 4, according to Espin. Two thefts from motor vehicles were also reported, and a car was stolen.

In addition, two arrests were made by officers and the detective unit. The first involved the stolen car, which was driven north and found with the suspect still inside it, according to Espin.

“The suspect was arrested for the stolen vehicle and possession of narcotics and a firearm,” Espin said in an emailed community update.

A second arrest was made after a resident called their security company to report suspicious activity, which involved three burglars allegedly tampering with a vehicle and stealing from it. The security company alerted the beach police detail, who found the vehicle.

“Officer Margin called in for additional units and the suspects were taken into custody and arrested,” Espin said. “There were numerous items in the vehicle indicating they might have been involved in other vehicle crimes. Kudos to Officer Margin, Palisades Patrol ,and our resident for making the team work.”
