PCH & W. Channel/Chautauqua Named City’s 14th Worst Intersection

Using city data on traffic and accidents, the Los Angeles Times dubbed the intersection of PCH and Chautauqua/West Channel Road the 14th worst intersection in the city.

The intersection actually rates 8th highest in traffic volume with 52 collisions since 2010, according to the Times article. The gathered data was analyzed by USC Prof. James Moore, a traffic expert, who described the location as a “3-way T-intersection with movements in all feasible directions.”

Another Pacific Palisades intersection also made the list. PCH and Sunset ranked as the 7th worst intersection with the 12th highest traffic volume and 336 collisions since 2010, according to the article. This intersection not only is the conjunction of two busy streets, but also features a heavy demand for parking due to the adjacent surf break and busy business area.
