Volunteers to Gather Signatures for 2026 Election on Feb. 7

On Saturday Feb. 7, volunteers can begin to gather signatures for their chosen candidates.

Candidates for the 2026 City Council election must either submit 1,000 signatures from their council district’s voters or submit 500 signatures and pay a $300 filing fee, according to the Office of the City Clerk. A nonpartisan primary election will be held June 2, and, if a runoff is required for any election race, it will be Nov. 3.

According to the City Clerk’s office, candidates have 25 days to gather signatures beginning on Feb. 7, which is 115 days before the election.
