A woman caused about $400-500 in damages at State Beach Liquor Mini Mart (14801 Pacific Coast Highway) Thursday night, according to owner Afzal Chaudhry.

Around 8 p.m., she walked in with a man, who left before her, Chaudhry said.

“She picked up juices, produce and some eyeglasses,” Chaudhry said. When the cashier asked for payment, “she got upset and started [a] commotion by breaking my liquor shot glass show case…. She tried to hit my employee with bottles in the bag, but he dodged it.”

Wearing the stolen glasses, she ran away with the bag of items. The employee told Chaudhry that nearby police were informed of the incident, but said they had to drive away because they were on another call. Chaudhry recalled that he then rushed to the store and also called 911. Unfortunately, by the time the officers returned, the perpetrator was gone.

Two Canyon residents remembered seeing the woman on Entrada Thursday afternoon, and resident Andrew Guichet said he twice reported the woman and her partner to police after seeing them use hard drugs on the Santa Monica stairs.

A nearby resident’s yard was also reportedly vandalized that night with furniture thrown and ceramics broken.

Sharon Kilbride, the area’s representative to the Pacific Palisades Community Council, sent video of the liquor mart incident to both LAPD and Apollo Security.

Palisades residents can report suspicious behavior by email to: palisades@lapd.online. Non-emergencies can be reported to LAPD at 877-ASK-LAPD or at the West L.A. Station (310) 444-0701.
