Theatricum Botanicum Opens Summer Season on June 7

Theatricum Botanicum will begin its summer season in Topanga Canyon on Saturday, June 7, with William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, while his ever popular comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, will open the following afternoon.

Pacific Coast Highway is scheduled to be open by that date, so a venture to the historic open-air theater should be relatively easy to access, assuming the roadway is opened as promised. However, please check with the theater to ensure access to PCH has been restored before heading to a play,

Much Ado About Nothing will star Willow Geer, Aaron Hendry, Audrey Forman, and Kelvin Morales in a production that has been moved from its traditional setting in Italy to the close of the U.S. Civil War. Geer will also direct A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a perennial Theatricum favorite, which uses the theater’s forested backdrop as a playground for the misadventures of Puck, Oberon, Titania, the young lovers, and the craftspeople. The season will run through Sept. 15.

Tickets range from $15-$51 with premium seating for $64. Children 4 and under are free. Pay-What-You-Will ticket pricing is available on July 31, Sept. 8, June 29, and Aug. 20. Reservations for Pay-What-You Will pricing is available online the week of the performance, or pay cash at the door.

The amphitheater (1419 N. Topanga Canyon Blvd) is terraced into the hillside, so audience members are advised to dress casually (warmly for evenings) and bring cushions for bench seating. Patrons are welcome to arrive early to picnic in the gardens before a performance.
