Police Update: License Plate & Package Thefts Rise

Thefts of packages and license plates in Pacific Palisades rose slightly last week, according to Brian Espin, the L.A.P.D. senior lead officer for the Palisades.

“I recommend trying to park your vehicle in a well-lit spot and getting a set of lock tight screws available on Amazon specifically for license plates,” Espin said in an email. “These are just a few tools we can use to make it harder for people to take our license plates.”

Also, in order to reduce the likelihood of package thefts, Espin recommends following these tips.

"1) Give instructions to the delivery person to hide the package so it's not visible on the porch or walkway.

2) Have a neighbor retrieve your package if you are not going to be home for an extended period of time.

3) Have your package delivered to a drop box, i.e. Amazon store or equivalent locker.
