Councilwoman Park Posts About Fire Cause Investigation, Heat Wave Preparations, and Final Corps Debris Removal
City Councilwoman Traci Park released a newsletter with the following Information:
“LAFD After-Action Report – It’s been eight months since the Palisades Fire. Answers to our questions about what happened - and what didn't happen - are long overdue. To avoid interfering with the federal ATF origin and cause investigation, the LAFD after-action report will not be released until the federal probe is complete. In addition to those two reports, the State and LA County have additional investigations under way. I have also called for an outside investigation, which will serve as a peer review to ensure that every question is answered. The City is currently in the process of retaining an independent firm to conduct that work.
”Fire Risk & Heat Wave Preparations – Ahead of this week’s elevated fire warnings, I pushed the City to be ready. LAFD pre-deployed extra patrols in Brentwood and the Palisades, with additional engines, strike teams, and brush crews staged for operations across West Bureau. All air assets, including the heavy-lift tanker at Van Nuys, are standing by and available. The Santa Ynez Reservoir - while not full - has 53 million gallons (that's 43 feet) of water available, and Stone Canyon Reservoir and Upper Stone Canyon Reservoir are both full, in service, and available for ground fills or air dips. I also requested additional water tenders from DWP, which has crews available 24/7. LADWP also advises that all hydrants have been tested and are in good working order. Here is my update from earlier this week to keep you posted in real time.
”Final Residential Debris Removal – Next week, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will finish clearing the last remaining debris from a residential lot participating in the USACE program. This will officially conclude the Corps’ debris removal operations — another major milestone on the road to recovery.”
