Beach Cleanup Near Temescal Canyon on Aug. 16
Heal the Bay and and the CD11 Foundation are teaming up for the Nothin’ But Sand beach cleanup on Aug. 16 from 10 a.m. to noon.
The event will include an expo and educational talks in addition to the group cleanup. It will be held at Will Rogers State Beach at lifeguard tower 6, which is two towers north of Temescal Canyon Road.
The goal is to safely remove hundreds of pounds of debris from the bay, and volunteers will receive a safety talk before participating, according to the promotional materials. Other talks by marine scientists and environmental policy specialists will be given from 11:20 to noon. A raffle will be held at 11:45 a.m.
An expo tent will share information on environmental campaigns and how to get involved while also offering giveaways.
