May 31 Is Party Time at Canyon Square (With Some Local Politics on the Side)

The last Saturday of the month will feature a Canyon Square party with a DJ, food, a gallery opening, and the annual meeting of the Santa Monica Canyon Civic Association.

Each year, the association holds a public meeting to vote in the new board, and this year, the event will also provide a good excuse for a celebration from 4-7 p.m. on May 31. By having the brief meeting as a portion of a party, residents can meet their representatives while also enjoying a festive get-together with their broader community.

Local artist Kelly Sena will bring her artwork to Gallery 169, and other Canyon Square businesses, including RustiCoffee, Replenish, and Canyon Grocer, will also be open. Neto’s Café will offer burritos, and residents are encouraged to make reservations at Canyon eateries to bring the festivities to more local businesses.

“Hopefully, we can fill the restaurants up,” said Doug Suisman, the interim president of SMCCA. “It’s going to be a fun social gathering.”
